\nI found this book to be both highly educational and informative. I also found this work to be beneficial to maintaining a positive inclusive and culturally open state of mind. In many ways, the information presented here is better than what you'll find in a book by any other diversity author as I have read most material on the subject.
\n\nThis book did a masterful job in driving home the points and the basic ideas of cultural competency in a smooth and readable manner. This particular collection of research is a fantastic starting point on ones journey of enlightenment and cultural tolerance. Perhaps it's all that some people will ever need or want. For me, since I've read the vast majority of books presented, this provides me with a wonderful opportunity to expose myself to material that can increase my knowledge and understanding about race relations.

This book reviews and summarizes key points to 50 of the greatest cultural competency concepts ever published. This is Wendels most popular book in the series. It does a great job of providing the skills, abilities, understanding, motivations and perspectives need for cultural competency. In addition, there are real world cultural scenarios that will guide the reader to successful cultural interactions.
\n\nWhile the summaries and insights are expanded perfectly, this book does work as a good introduction to self-development in cultural diversity development. Wendel also points out some insightful teachings from the works of Marcus Aurelius and Emerson to the Dalai Lama.
\n\n\nBuy this book if you want a guide to self-improvement and cultural development before you tackle the vast amount of literature in the field. The value of the book lies in its ability to point you in the right direction for future reading. w. If you want more advanced teachings you will have to go straight to the source and read Wendels other books on the subject.

I was reluctant to buy this book at first; however, I am VERY happy that I got the book. I LOVE it. First of all, it *does* add new thought to the body of cultural development in the workplace by introducing great grounded theory research as well as, making connections between the works of the great masters, thus reinforcing the most important discoveries as being universally recognized and withstanding the test of time.
\nSecondly, the format is fantastic in that one can gain a large understanding of each concept and technique with just a few pages of summary bullets. I had previously read many books on the subject to improve my organization, and found that this work is the most practical by far.
\nThe greatest thing I got from this book is that it introduced me to some fantastic cultural concepts and solutions that I had never even heard of, much less would have ever read, and now I know about these skills and I am better for it.

\n\nI\u2019ve been looking forward to reading this new book and it did not disappoint. I love the title because of the focus on Everyday People and common wisdom. ALL OF US can be leaders, regardless of our formal title. Back in the day, we used to talk about \u201cShared Leadership\u201d Early on in my work with organizations the goal was to get everyone to be responsible for the success of the organization and thereby diminish the old school, hierarchical, top-down, leader-driven culture that was prevalent in many corporate, non-profit, government and community-based groups that were often built around the personality of the leader.\n
\nAs I was reading this book, I came across this statement that parallels my work on developing wisdom in positive Influence Leaders, the more you use the techniques and suggestions in this work, the more likely it is that you'll have a positive influence on other people in the organization.\" This makes perfect sense.
\n\nThe other thing that caught my attention because it is something that I value is the importance of sharing stories to bring home the message. Wendel does a great job of using stories to make their points in a dramatic fashion.

The author of this book has been working for 20 years on this subject matter and has built a comprehensive gathering of extraordinary leadership ideas and philosophies. He has dedicated a large portion of his career to sharing what he has learned to help people bring out their best leadership. His newest book does a superb job of outlining what great leadership looks like, sharing inspirational real life stories, and providing techniques to develop leadership capability.
\n\nFor me it differs from other leadership books because it is based on the research and evidence that they have collected throughout two decades. It teaches us that we all have leadership within us - it is just a set of specific behaviors and actions that are available to each of us. This book should be part of everyone's education, not just those who have roles where they are responsible for leading others.

TSG is an excellent read for anyone looking for a better understanding of the value of traditional culture and sport, ways to identify your traditional culture, and how to make it the heartbeat of your cultural life. Wendel does an excellent job explaining culture discovery, making culture champions, and putting culture out front in your awareness\nby using many examples that work. The book goes beyond the conceptual and dives deep into implementation, promotion and safeguarding intangible heritage. It's an enjoyable read that will inspire anyone looking to bring life and identity to their cultural self. \n
\nThis effort hits the nail perfectly. Ultimately, background differences (ethnicity, education, religion, culture, choice) create the most spectacular expression of sports and games. Scott Wendel has years of experience, and international interactions to reflect and write a productive book about preserving and safeguarding TSG.
